The region is situated in south eastern Queensland about 3 hours north of Brisbane by road and is one of Australia's favourite holiday destinations.

The region enjoys moderate weather year round. Plenty of good value accommodation is available throughout the region at most times of the year.

The whale watching season can cause shortages of accommodation, so it is wise to book early should you plan to be in Hervey Bay at that time. The styles of accommodation are quite varied and include caravan parks, backpacker hostels, motels , holiday units and luxury resorts.

The region is now becoming a popular destination for seminars because of the increased facilities in this area and beauty of the locations.
